Saw Arbors
Vancouver Gear Works Ltd. has actively developed Saw Edger Arbors since 1994. As we are constantly making developments, we are constantly bringing innovations to the sawmill industry. Starting with the Retec design, VANGEAR greatly increased the quality of arbors by using a hobbing method to generate the lobes with very high accuracy, as compared with the traditional method of milling each tooth individually.
In response to industry demand for more stable saws for thin kerf sawing, Vancouver Gear developed the original VANGEAR Saw Arbor, which uses an involute tooth form rather than the traditional lobe. This greatly increases stability and reduces wear on both the arbor and the saw eyes.
VANGEAR's most recent development is the World Patented Ultra-Tech Universal Arbor System. This package uses a splined mandrel and sleeve, both using the involute tooth form from the previous VANGEAR Saw Arbor development. The sleeve uses the involute tooth form both internally and externally. These internal and external teeth are timed to each other making it far easier to change the sleeves and maintain dynamic balance. To complete the package, the saw eye is machined after laser cutting. All of these factors combine to give us an Edger Arbor System with unprecedented accuracy and stability that reduces variation, increases recovery and reduces maintenance costs.
