The Wenzel LHF GMM
(Gear Measuring Machine)

The LHF GMM 2600 model is a traveling bridge-type measuring machine with a measuring range capable of measuring gears up to 102" in diameter. It also has the cability for geometric and prismatic measuring for other large housings and components.

This gives VanGear the flexibility to validate not only our gears but also any gear boxes or other machined parts. This is now an integral part of VanGear's fully accredited quality management system.

The Newest Höfler Has Arrived!

Continuing with our equipment upgrade and advancement program, we have another special piece of equipment making its way towards the manufacturing floor of VanGear. This machine heralds from the German manufacturer of Höfler and promise to expand our capability further.

Höfler Rapid 2600

The Höfler Rapid 2600 CNC Gear Grinding has arrived and is in hot on the heals of its little brother the Höfler Rapid 1500 CNC Gear Grinder. The 2600 boasts all of the same capabilities as the 1500 with the ability to work on gears up to 2.6 meters in diameter. Gears that require AGMA 15 and DIN 1 quality are achievable with this piece of technology.

Quality Assurance

The quality assurance department is making large advancements this year. As of November 2007, the VanGear quality control system has been ISO 9001/2000 certified. At the same time, VanGear has also become a member of the API (American Petroleoum Institute) Monogram Program. That means that our quality control system is API Q1 certified. This is an industry first for any manufacturer on the West Coast.

In addition to the certification of our quality control system, VanGear is approved by API to produce and repair components listed under the API SPEC. 7 Monogram Certification Program, another industrial first for the West Coast.

We are proud of our quality control system and look forward to the oportunities and challenges the our Quality Assurance department has worked hard to develop for us.

New Machines from 2006-07

2006 and 2007 was a busy time for us with the arrival of five new CNC machines, The 1600 Höfler CNC Gear Hobbing Machine, The 1500 Höfler Rapid CNC Gear Grinder, The LB45II series Okuma CNC Lathe, the YV1600 You Ji CNC Vertical Turning Centre, and the 3000 SD Kao Ming CNC Milling Centre.

Complicating the delivery of these mahines was their scale. They barely fit through the large bay doors. However, with skilled moving staff on hand the machines were soon laid to rest on their foundations.

These machines very quickly proved their worth, in part due to our staff that is familiar with these equipment. Combined they have increased our capacities and output and allowed us to tackle larger, more precise, and more complicated projects.

Hofler HF 1600 CNC Gear Hobbing

This Machine has its own gashing wheel for roughing and a material optimization program to produce the highest AGMA/DIN standard gears in an extremely efficient manner. Even the finishing cutters that this machine utilizes are unique and custom designed to speed up the gear cutting process. This is the largest CNC Hobber of its type in North America and the first CNC Hobber in the world with Onboard Gear Checking Capabilities.

Hofler Rapid 1500 CNC Gear Grinder

This machine represents the state of the art in gear grinding technology. Capable of unprecedented accuracy and speed, the 1500 produces ground gears that meet the highest level of quality in the industry. It comes with Onboard Gear Checking Capabilities. With this machine we are capable of producing AGMA Q15 / DIN 1 gears on a consistent basis.

Okuma LB45 II Series

Setting the pace in highspeed, high accuracy mechatronics, this CNC addition to our machinery will give us the best quality that you are used to with VanGear.

The maximum turning diameter of the Okuma LB45/3000 is 660 mm (26") with 3,060 mm (120") between centers. Its maximum swing/saddle is 889 mm (35") / 559 mm (22"). This machine is also equiped with an 18" chuck. This machine is capable of meeting and exceeding our current customers ever changing and demanding tolerance requirements, and will provide VanGear increased ability to service our customers turning and shafting needs.

Kao Ming 3000SD CNC Milling Center

It has a 65" x 118" table, 15,400 lbs load capacity, and 127" X axis, 78.75" Y axis, and 27.5" Z axis travel. This Milling center also features a high-speed 5,200 rpm through spindle coolant system for increased chip flushing ability.

You Ji YV1600 CNC Vertical Turning Lathe

It features a 63" table diameter, and a max cutting diameter of 80". The maximum cutting height is 47", and the load capacity is 17,600 lbs.

Our Mitutoyo CNC CMM is at home in its own temperature and particulate control inspection room.

We have gain a wealth of experience with its use.Coupled with the Gear Pack Software option, the report that are generated from this resource have earn us a large amount of confidence from our customers.

It has added a level of measuring accuracy and repeatability that can keep pace with VanGear's capabilities.
